  • Salary Range: $$53,880 - $82,200 annually (determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant)Project OverviewThe Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safely destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the Department of Defense (DoD) to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The PCAPP plant began the operations and munition destruction phase as of September 2016.Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.Position SummaryThe Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is looking for a Design/Production Representative (graphic designer) at the Pueblo, CO location. This position will report to the Office and Administrative Services (O&AS) manager at the PCAPP project, and perform graphic design duties on the Pueblo Chemical-Agent Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) project in Pueblo, CO. Plans, produces, and/or coordinates a variety of moderate to complex visual media products with accuracy, consistency, professional quality, and conformance to appropriate style guidelines. Duties require a mix of technical and creative publications skills. Interface with all levels of project personnel, and perform other duties as assigned.This PCAPP position falls under the scope of the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act of 1965 (SCA). The SCA requires PCAPP to provide employees with benefits and wages no less than the amounts the Department of Labor has established for the location and classification in which the employee will be working.This is a long-term assignment with a 9-80s schedule (with work hours from 6:30am - 4:00pm Monday - Thursday, and 6:30am - 3:00pm every other Friday); or a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday). This position may require additional overtime hours as considered necessary.Responsibilities
    • Plans, produces, and/or coordinates a variety of moderate to complex visual print/digital media products.
    • Plans format of products, organizes content, writes/edits text, and provides instructions for final production.
    • Collaborates with authors, subject matter experts, and professional staff while preparing a full range of visual media based content.
    • Reviews assignment requirements (including content and schedule) with customers and provides guidance for successful and timely product completion.
    • Produces and revises moderate to complex graphic designs, illustrations, photographs, posters, presentations, and other forms of visual media products.
    • Develops content to industry and government standards while conforming to appropriate style guidelines and other document-related procedures.
    • Ensures that material is structured and formatted logically, and resolves inconsistencies.
    • Works with authors to resolve editorial and/or content issues.
    • Monitors job progress and alerts responsible supervisor when schedules appear to be in jeopardy.
    • Maintains complex electronic file management and configuration control.
    • Assists other publications staff, as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by manager and/or as requested by other team members.
    • Ability to work overtime on a short notice as required.Qualifications and SkillsBasic Qualifications
      • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of related experience; or Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field.
      • Must have broad knowledge and experience in conventional graphics layout, design, techniques, and concepts.
      • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with standard graphic design software applications (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
      • Must be US Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
      • Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the Depot.Minimum Qualifications
        • Proficiency in design, layout, and photographic editing software applications.
        • Experience performing online and traditional editing/proofreading tasks using appropriate editing/proofreading methods.
        • Knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling, composition, and style.
        • Comprehensive understanding of production methods, theory, and techniques including typography, design, color, illustration, and photography.
        • Skilled at drafting a full array of print/digital media products with a logical format and structure and to resolve inconsistencies.
        • Ability to review, format, and produce content to professional standards while conforming to appropriate style guidelines and other document-related guides and procedures.
        • Ability to identify and apply appropriate level of quality based on considerations such as customer expectations, audience, visibility, and project/corporate standards.
        • Competence in handling publication/visual communication assignments with minimal supervision.
        • Experience interfacing with authors, subject matter experts, and publications/communications staff while preparing and coordinating production of a full range of visual media products.
        • Ability to work effectively within an electronic document management system.
        • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, trouble shooting skills, and self-discipline.
        • Ability to learn and apply new technologies.
        • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
        • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

        • Ability to participate as publications representative at various project office locations on multi-disciplined teams planning and executing large, multi-functional, and high-profile print/digital media assignments.

        • Ability to make sound decisions and demonstrate flexibility when responding to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
        • Ability to work overtime on short notice, as needed.Preferred Qualifications
          • Previous graphic design experience in a fast-paced production environment.
          • Prior experience on a Government project.
          • Previous graphic design experience in engineering, construction, and operations work environments.
          • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
          • Skills using SharePoint that include: Knowledge of sites, lists, libraries, web parts; experience editing and layout of sites/pages.This project is subject to the Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety) which governs persons performing work under the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements such as respirators may be mandated.
