Save Education - Doctoral Degree Benefits - Health Insurance Duties Summary This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Responsibilities As a CW Treaty Compliance Inspection Specialist at the GS-0301-11 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as Escort Team Shift Leader and Treaty Compliance Inspection Specialist. Supports and oversees the operations of a 12-hour treaty escort shift at a chemical weapons destruction facility. Responsible for managing and coordinating the work and activities of supporting contract escort and supporting government escorts during the shift. Assigns tasks and priorities to subordinate shift members based on Branch priorities and current circumstances and conditions. Arranges and ensures that scheduled activities to be performed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) inspection team are supported by appropriate facility personnel and inspectors are accompanied and observed directly by DTRA escorts to ensure compliance with treaty and facility guidance applied to varying circumstances. Obtains information and support requested by the inspection team. Answers OPCW inspection team member inspection related questions and resolves issues. Maintains shift operations records and other logs of treaty relevant data and activities that occur during the shift. Advises management on current operations, issues and makes recommendations to assist in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and support. Briefs oncoming shift members and Branch leadership. Provides updates to key plant personnel, as applicable. Maintains close liaison between the Branch, the destruction facility staff and OPCW inspection team leaders supervisors and members. Keeps all parties informed of on-going activities and operations. Develops, maintains, and inputs to records and databases of treaty compliance program activities. Manages the administrative details for inspectors and site visitors including security clearances, meeting rooms, lodging requirements, recreational activities, etc. Advises inspectors of regulations and procedural matters relating to mission activities. Ensures support functions or collateral duty programs are accomplished for the shift. Provides input to the development, preparation, and maintenance of assigned Chemical Weapons Treaty Compliance Operations Plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), briefings, site diagrams, and treaty declarations. Drafts, edits, and prints official memoranda, reports, and documentation required. Conducts research and provides historical data, records and information on past, current, or future activities. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service: Performing treaty inspection or escort duties or related work. Inspecting, accounting for, maintaining, securing, handling, detecting, air monitoring, or destroying chemical weapons or related materials (samples, agent, ammunition, etc.) Leading small teams and performing operations center work; OR B. You possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree ; OR C. You have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and you have more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. You have computed the percentage of the requirements that you meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year by 18. the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education ARE YOU USING YOUR EDUCATION TO QUALIFY? GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. Normally, this will be seven nominally 12-hour shifts in a biweekly pay period. Occasional/ some routine overtime work required (normally less than a few hours a week). Must be able to pass a Category 2 physical and wear chemical protective respirator and protective clothing on occasion for up to several hours.
