Medical Assistant Float: Starting Pay Range: $18.23 - $25.74 an

Summary:A team member of nursing services who participates in the
delivery of health care to the patients of Pueblo Community Health
Center.Reports to:Clinical Nursing ManagerSupervision
Exercised:NoneEducation/Experience/License/Certification:Graduate
of a certified Medical Assistant Program.One year medical assisting
desiredCurrent B.L.S. with skills demonstration C.P.R.
certification for Healthcare Providers required.Ability to speak
Spanish is desirable.Valid driver's license and auto insurance as
required by law.Current certification or registration through NHA,
AMT, AAMA or other recognized credentialing organization is
required.Required Travel:Occasional travel may be required

the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center,
Inc.Fill in positions temporarily vacated within clinical nursing
and triage for regular staff to cover for vacation, sick leave or
during replacement of staff positions. When no vacancies are
present in staff positions, will assume POD responsibilities. The
POD responsibilities includes: Managing all Patient\Nurse Visits
and completing patient messages for Physicians who are within
assigned POD Schedule patients using Next Gen EPM.Maintain
knowledge of MA work flow in providing care and use within Next Gen
EHR.Maintain knowledge of Provider workflow in providing care and
use within Next Gen EHR.Maintain knowledge of case management
programs used within the department.Maintain knowledge of medical
provider patient appointment template and use for scheduling within
Next Gen EPM.Keep patients up to date with immunizations per Chief
Medical Officers' standing orders, (Pediatric, Adult &
Geriatric).Enroll women into WWC\WiWo program per annum per
MA/Nursing P & P if seen in direct patient by the provider you are
assigned.Schedule children from birth to age 20 for well child exam
if they are behind schedule.Refer babies to Cavity Free by Age
Three (3), if seen during a well child check at age 1yr, 2 yr, and
3yr.If patient qualifies for CCS program or is due for a
colonoscopy, complete consent, legal affidavit, supporting legal
document and task to CM.Assist the Medical Provider in providing
patient care. This will include the following, but not limited
to:Anthropometrics - Document in vital signs templateMaintain
appropriate patient care forms in patient medical record per EMR
outage Policy and Procedure.Assist with treatments, surgical
procedures, and emergencies.Prepare patient for examination or
treatment.Provide information to the patient concerning
preparations for laboratory/radiographic examinations.Serve as an
informational source to the patient concerning Specialty Physician
referrals, Medical Triage, and Medications prescribed by the
Physician.May fax Radiology requistions to appropriate hospital, if
it does not require Prior Authorization from patient insurance
otherwise task to Referral Dept.Schedule acute appointments for
specialty referral if patient is to be seen within 48 hours,
Referral dept must be tasked referral for insurance
authorization.May schedule and fax PT\OT\ST\ and task home health
as directed by the medical provider.Administration of
immunizations/medications as prescribed by the physician and
documented.Perform phlebotomy if assigned to satellite
site.Perpetuate and anticipate the needs of the medical provider
within the flow of patientMaintain emergency medication/airway
boxes and medication stock (narcotic log/count if assigned to a
Satellite Clinic.Perform EKG, audiogram, spirometer, HGB, serial
glucose & HIV, urine HCG and routine U/A.Keep patients up to date
with immunizations per Chief Medical Officers' standing orders
(Pediatric, Adult & Geriatric)Pack and sterilize surgical
instruments per nursing policy and procedure.Abstract patient
(paper) medical records into the Electronic Health Record (EMR) if
not complete per Nursing Policy and Procedure on established
patients.Scan documents from the patients (paper) medical record
into their Electronic Health Record per Nursing Policy and
Procedure.Have new patients who have never been seen fill out Past
Medical History Form to be abstracted into their Electronic Health
Record prior to being seen by Provider.Document all Patient
Encounters within their EMR per policy and procedure.Manage Inbox
and Work flow in a timely manner. All patient calls or tasks
received from the Provider must be complete by same day
received.Match unmatched prescriptions with the Providers Inbox but
do not ERx any medication.Manage Symptomatic Telephone call during
evening from assigned Providers Inbox and use Electronic Triage
Assessment and complete per Nursing Policy and Procedure.Administer
immunizations, medications and treatments as prescribed by the
medical provider and document in the patient's electronic medical
record.Maintain all logs used at Health Center.Maintain emergency
medication/airway boxes and medication stock (narcotic
log/count).Adhere to Nursing Policies and Procedures.Be a team
member and participate in ongoing evaluations of patient care
systems.Provide health care services appropriate to the
age-specific needs of all patients in accordance with the
principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent,
adult and geriatric life cycles.Adhere to the infection control
policies and procedures.Maintain current licensure and CPR
certification.Perform other related duties as assigned by Nursing
Supervisor.Follow organization and departmental call off
procedures.When assigned to Triage: Will function as a Telephone
Screening MA and will follow Triage Policy and Procedures and
report to the Triage Nursing Supervisor.Adhere to Triage Protocols,
if no protocol is present for patient compliant check with Triage
Nursing Supervisor.Uses Telephone Triage Template to document
patient telephone symptoms.When assigned to Triage, maintain Triage
Patient Satisfaction Indicators: Wait time and abandonment rate in
the queue at the 90-100% level.Maintain daily patient appointment
Fill Rate at the upper 90-100% level.The above duties are not all
