Senior Automation & Electrical Engineer Location: Pueblo, CO
(Relocation Assistance Available) Rocky Mountain Steel Mills is
looking for a Senior Automation & Electrical Engineer to join our
Pueblo plant. In this role, you’ll help drive safe, reliable, and
efficient steel production by improving electrical and automation
systems across our highly automated manufacturing operations.
You’ll work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering
teams to troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and implement
smart automation solutions that increase uptime, product quality,
and energy efficiency. What You’ll Do Support automation and
electrical systems across steelmaking, casting, rolling mills, and
reheat furnaces Troubleshoot, modify, and improve PLC and HMI
systems (primarily Rockwell Automation) Design, commission, and
support AC/DC drives, soft starters, and motor control systems
Optimize combustion and process control systems to improve safety,
quality, and throughput Develop control system documentation and
performance metrics Provide ongoing maintenance and on-call support
as needed What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Electrical,
Electronic, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering 4–7 years of
experience in electrical and automation engineering Experience in
heavy industrial or manufacturing environments (steel industry
preferred) Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, medium- and low-voltage
drives, and motor control systems Ability to read electrical and
mechanical schematics and troubleshoot complex systems Comfortable
working in a fast-paced, industrial plant environment Work
Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility and
involves exposure to industrial equipment, electrical systems, and
high-heat processes. Safety is a top priority, and all employees
are expected to follow safe work practices.
