COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY-PUEBLO invites applications for the position of: Visiting Assistant Professor of Nursing - Simulation Coordinator (Update Full Consideration Date!) SALARY: Depends on Qualifications OPENING DATE: 6/14/2018 CLOSING DATE: Continuous POSITION SUMMARY: The School of Nursing currently manages recruitment, admission and retention of 220 undergraduate and 80 graduate students. National Accreditation is maintained to insure delivery of quality nursing education. The school facilitates the learning process of students in achieving the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and Master of Science degree with emphasis areas in education and nurse practitioner. The emphasis areas are: Nurse Educator Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Adult/Gerontology Acute Care/Family Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner The Visiting Nursing Simulation Coordinator Faculty position includes teaching, scholarship and service. Teaching assignments are matched with the education, skills, and experience of the faculty and may include classroom, lab, clinical and student project support. Scholarship includes publishing, research, presentations and various professional projects. Service includes school committees as well as community involvement. A full time teaching workload is equivalent to 12 course credits/semester. 9 hours of reassignment for this position is outlined in the following duties sections. The position coordinates day-to-day operation and strategic development healthcare simulation environment for both the graduate and undergraduate programs. In addition, there are expected summer part-time adjunct coordination duties. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU-Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service. Primary Duties Teaching Assignment includes 3 credit hours of course simulation facilitation Coordinator Role Make recommendations to the associate dean to update and implement the business plan, annual budget and staffing plans. Organize and hold periodic meetings each semester for staff and appropriate external groups. Coordinate with Lab Assistant for inventory control procedures to monitor supply levels, costs, and ensure supplies are on hand when needed. Develop data collection and record keeping procedures to evaluate training method effectiveness and the performance of faculty facilitation of pre, intra and post, briefing. Develop and maintain data collection and record keeping procedures for tracking simulation lab use, student learning evaluations, and program evaluation for accreditation requirements. Collaboration with faculty members, program coordinators, including the creation of simulation experiences and clinical scenarios consistent with course/program objectives. Collaborate with faculty to coordinate simulation development and implementation. Identify, conduct, and prepare analysis of existing and current technology, equipment, and supplies in preparation for decision making. Coordinate facility improvements and new equipment deployment. Develop faculty/teaching staff orientation and training modules to ensure consistent delivery of simulation according to SSH and INACSL Standards. Support the development and writing of generated grants. Perform periodic reviews of programs and write summary semester reports to be given to the associate dean. Managerial oversight for day to day operations of the clinical simulation laboratories, including scheduling of simulations, skills labs, and other educational activities within the labs. Assist with simulation sessions when needed by the faculty or cover simulation sessions if staffing issues occur. Accept leadership role in planning and executing special projects. Supervise technicians and support staff, ensuring that all work meets deadlines and standards for quality and accuracy. Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, trouble-shooting, and repair for all equipment in order to back up the technicians. Service including at least one school committee as negotiated, chair lab/simulation and attend general faculty, undergraduate and graduate faculty meetings Attend various events such as graduation, pinning/hooding ceremony, convocation, Sigma Theta Tau Induction and Awards and conferences. Research/Publications/Presentations/Conferences QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications MS in Nursing Documented simulation experience and or training Unencumbered RN in Colorado or ability to obtain one Two years professional clinical nursing experience Preferred Qualifications DNP or PhD in nursing or related field Prior teaching in clinical and classroom experience Nurse Educator coursework Teaching experience Familiarity with INASCL Experience with budget Managerial experience Computer skills (Word, Excel, Blackboard, etc) IMPORTANT INFORMATION: ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY CSU-Pueblo is a regional, comprehensive university.
