Colby Community College is located in northwest Kansas, approximately 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. From a humble beginning of 99 students in 1964, CCC now serves more than 2,400 students annually.

In addition to an 57-acre main campus, CCC has a 60-acre farm used as a hands-on laboratory and training facility. The college also accommodates hundreds of off-campus students through face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.

Job Description

Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Adult Education AO-K Support Instructor/Navigator located at the Norton Correctional Facility (NCF)

The Adult Education Instructor AO-K/Navigator provides educational and career pathway services to qualifying adults. The individual reports to the Director of Adult Education. As part of a grant-funded program, all positions depend on continued funding from year-to-year.

The start date is Jan. 2, 2023.

Responsibilities:

• Provides co-instruction in AO-K classes (C-Tech, Welding, Sustainable Energy) supporting the lead instructor; supervises small study groups, one on one tutoring
• Maintains all required credentials and certifications;
• Conducts the adopted processes for all students, including orientation, enrollment and assessments (pre and post);
• Monitors and updates information for each student including goals, testing records, educational plan, career plan and reports information for data collection;
• Maintains and submits accurate weekly attendance;
• Takes action to monitor those students not attending immediately per facility requirements;
• Participates in essential professional development;
• Follows all policies with emphasis on safety and security procedures for NCF;
• Fulfills other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or college administrators.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the college;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Required to complete training with Norton Correctional Facility;
  • Required to complete necessary professional development (often online).
    
    Qualifications
    
    • Bachelor's degree in any area or an associate degree with an active plan for obtaining a bachelor's degree within five years;
    • Passion for assisting high risk men in continued education and preparation for entry into careers;
    • Able to work as a team member positively supporting all Colby Community College personnel.
